Carrick Concerts is delighted to welcome three of Cornwall’s most respected musicians, performing as the Cove Trio, to St Mylor Church, Mylor Churchtown on 21 May for a delightful evening concert.

Cheryl Brendish (Soprano), Jacqueline Kershaw (French Horn) and Clive Ellison (Piano) bring their own unique blend of the human voice, french horn and piano to combine a programme full of the colour of early summer that includes Strauss’s Alphorn, Poulenc’s Elegie for horn and piano as well as songs and arias ranging from Handel and Mozart to Quilter and Sondheim.

Cheryl Brendish is a respected vocalist who studied singing with the late Pamela Cook, performing in her world-renowned choir, Cantamus in her formative years. After graduating from Trinity College of Music, Cheryl moved to Australia to join the Victoria State Opera in Melbourne. She has performed leading roles in La Traviata, Die Fledermaus, the Marriage of Figaro, the Merry Widow, the Magic Flute, Madam Butterfly, and Don Giovanni) as well as being successful concert artist.  Now based in Cornwall, Cheryl studies with Margaret Kingsley and is the Vocal Lead for the Cornwall Music Service Trust, as well as teaching privately and having her own small opera group, Intimate Opera Cornwall.

Clive Ellison is a well-respected accompanist and repetiteur, and is the Musical Director for Intimate Opera Cornwall. He has performed with many of Cornwall's best soloists, choirs and operatic societies, and has played the organ for a BBC Songs of Praise broadcast from Camborne, as well as twice performed alongside massed Cornish male voice choirs at the Royal Albert Hall - once as a pianist in 1994 and again as organist in 2000. In 2003 Clive was awarded the Gorsedd shield for services to music.

Jacqueline Kershaw, born and raised in Cornwall, began playing the French horn at the age of eleven. Throughout a long and varied career, Jacqueline has performed with the English National Opera, the London Sinfonietta and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra of Israel. Now back in Cornwall, Jacqueline is a frequent performer with the county’s professional orchestras: Duchy Opera, Duchy Ballet and The Cornish Sinfonia. Jacqueline is also Principal Horn of Three Spires Orchestra, Truro Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of St Mary’s, Penzance. Jacqueline also performs regularly with the Cornish Wind Quintet, Big Bang Brass and other chamber ensembles.
