“THREE LADIES AND A CELLIST”
The Copenhagen Piano Quartet which presents an all Austrian Program this Spring, is a young piano quartet based in Copenhagen consisting of Benedikte Damgaard, violin, Kristina Fialov, viola, Adam Stadnicki, cello and Neel Bramsnæs Teilmann at the piano. The quartet has won the Val Tidone International Chamber Music Competition in Italy 2013 and The Royal Danish Academy of Music's Chamber Music Competition 2012 and was a prize winner in the Danish Radio’s Chamber Music Competition in 2014 as well as in the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria 2012.
The young dynamic quartet has a very broad repertoire spanning from the classics of Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms to the very contemporary music of our day. Furthermore they are passionate about shedding new light on the Danish classical repertoire. In 2015 their debut CD was released, containing piano quartets by Danish/German composer Friedrich Kuhlau. It was received very well by the critics, as here in MusicWeb International: ”to get these new and extremely fine performances on such a splendid SACD is indeed a surprise and pleasure. What comes across is the absolutely top quality playing as well as a remarkably mature cohesion as a group, this was a splendid achievement.” CPQ has received both a Léonie Sonning Music Fund grant and the generous Jacob Gade scholarship.
