    Description

Scherzo Ensemble invites you to experience Berlioz's masterful Christmas Oratorio, The Childhood of Christ. The work tells a story of King Herod's persecution of the infants, the Holy Family's flight into Egypt and their being granted refuge in the home of an Egyptian family.
Berlioz's inclusion of this traditional tale of familial sanctuary in Egypt is particularly resonant today, when Christianity is currently the world's most persecuted faith, particularly in the Middle-East.

The piece will be sung in French with English subtitles.
