    Description

Back from a busman's holiday, the Bus Driver's Prayer are proud to present All Fools' Eve- an extravaganza of foolish frivolity to get you in the mood for the big day, 1st April. Join us for some music, comedy, poetry and fun and games from:

    John Hegley:

The writer and performer John Hegley has been described as the Spike Milligan for our time, and as 'awesomely mundane' by The Independent .

John Hegley was born in North London in 1953 but soon moved with his family to Luton. Before attending Bradford University to study European Literature and Sociology, he worked as a bus conductor and as a civil servant. He began his performing career at Interaction (a tiny campus in North London which specialised in playful participatory theatre out-reach and goat-care), was discovered in 1983 by John Peel as part of the band The Popticians, and now enjoys a cult following among fans of subversive comedy. His surreal poetry is often heard on BBC radio and widely performed ‘live’, often set to music that is played by the poet himself. He has published ten books, including Glad to Wear Glasses (1990) and other titles of verse, prose and drama, several of which are illustrated with his drawings. He has also published a collection of photographs of potatoes.

    Henry von Stifle (Paul Dance):

Henry von Stifle (Paul Dance) is a world renowned entertainer, amateur vet and world record holder for the longest time a man has carried a toaster. He is also desperate for success...really desperate!!

Finalist in the 2015 Alternative New Act of the Year.
    'Solid nonsensical laughter' – Shortcom

    Louise Etheridge:

Delightful, wistful and meaningful are all words you can’t use to describe Louise Etheridge’s poetry. Instead, her poetry is funny, dark and rather wrong, but in a good way. She’s a bit rude, too. Proper people like Sandi Toksvig have commissioned her rudeness, and her proudest moment is when she made Hugh Grant say “faeces” at the Royal Festival Hall. She enjoys cavies and has a thing about neoprene. Her two books “Slightly Wrong” and “Happy Stories for Busy People” have five star reviews and are sold in a small, local branch of Waterstones (Godalming). She is addressing her fear of clowns and sings with all-women rude a cappella group The Dirty Carols.
“She is absurdly brilliant” Sandi Toksvig
“We didn’t bring you up to write this sort of thing” Louise’s Mum and Dad

    INCA:

Psychadelic jangly desert rock from three North London Nomads.

AND games, poems and posing from the Bus Driver's Team:

    Andrew James Brown:

Wetherspoons, canal-based recreation and Carry On.

    Richard Purnell:

    Suburban half rhymes

    White ciders and petty crimes

    Mostly in zone drei

    Plus dancing 'til late.
