Description
The Billingsfield Kitchen is making a long awaited return for a summer popup on the 14th & 15th June.
Working with Sam Lowry, sous chef at industry favourite 40 Maltby Street we will be serving a set menu of the best in season produce. Sam’s style is fresh, stripped back and ingredient led and is absolutely delicious. The dishes are designed for sharing allowing you to sample many different flavours over the course of the evening.
To match the food, Matt Bushnell, founder of The Billingsfield Kitchen, has selected wines from a handful of artisans who produce wines that are natural, organic or biodynamic. These wines are fantastic, match beautifully with our food and some even argue, are better for your health. Make sure you try the orange wine we’ll be serving – it’s unusual and outstanding.
All guests will be greeted with an aperitif before sampling our full 7 dish menu, which depending on availability of produce at the time, includes the likes of:
Bread & snacks
Smoked mackerel & sourdough toast
Duck Rillettes
Raw Sea Bass, Cucumber, Crème Fraîche & Citrus
Barbecued Lamb, Green Beans, Anchovy & Dandelion
Steamed Cod, Peas & Homemade Cavatelli
Aubergine, Tomato, Ricotta, Pickled Onion & Rocket
A Dessert
Wines will be available as a food pairing or a la cart
The venue for the night is at Brother Marcus garden café in Balham. A stones throw from Balham tube, the venue couldn’t be easier to get to.
The Team for the night:
Matt Bushnell is hosting the night and running the front of house proceedings. He currently works as restaurant manager at Oklava and established The Billingsfield Kitchen as a way of showcasing the style of food and wine he loves. His ambition; to open a permanent fixture in London in the not too distant future.
Sam Lowry formally of dock kitchen, currently works at 40 Maltby street as the sous chef. As well as helping run this small but dynamic and celebrated kitchen, Sam is well practiced at working in temporary kitchens set up in unlikely places.
