Throughout this unique workshop, we will be exploring the early history of Stop-Motion cinema through the screening of some of the most iconic stop-motions ever made, exploring how early cinematographers made the most of this fascinating medium, its relationship to drawing, and how artists and animators can utilize this most tactile form of animation today.
Throughout the morning session we will be working in various media both from film imagery and our own imagination, while the afternoon session will be an exercise in imagination, co-operation and creativity, where students will be taught how to create their own collaged and hand-drawn animations inspired by our investigation into featured stop-motion films screened in the morning.
