Winter to Spring Programme:
We are extremely excited this season to present a feast of song writing sounds from stunning renowned performers both international and local:
Moira Smiley - 7th February - Travelling from her hilly Los Angeles perch, Moira Smiley travels the world as a soloist in new, early and traditional music. A musical polyglot, and vocal shape-shifter, her voice – and composing – are heard on feature films, BBC & PBS television programs, NPR, and on more than 60 albums. Moira’s recordings feature spare, vocally driven collections of warped traditional songs, original polyphony and body percussion.
Pat Dam Smyth - 7th March - With his debut album ‘The Great Divide’ hailed as a modern masterpiece in his native Northern Ireland and receiving critical acclaim further afield, from The Independent, Q magazine and BBC 6 Music to name but a few, his music falls somewhere between John Grant, Leonard Cohen, Father John Misty and Nick Cave.
4th April - programme change from Saint Betty to Balladeste (featuring Tara SoundsCreative founder on cello)
Having developed a duo identity born out of their trio Quest Ensemble, Balladeste (Preetha Narayanan - violin and Tara Franks -cello) collaboratively compose original music that explores the versatility and sound potential of just two string instruments as a band. They merge their varied musical experiences from western and indian classical to folk, to create compositions that are vibrant and experimental yet melodic and filmic in quality.
