Introducing Tall Poppies...
Eccentric indie-pop four piece Tall Poppies is made up of identical twin sister songstresses Susan and Catherine on lead vocals, bass and guitar. Diarmuid pulls at heart strings on his violin, and Doug injects the energy and danceability on drums.

Their new track 'Cat Got Your Tongue?' is an upbeat blast of guitar pop inspired by a Jane Austin novel, and a night out in London. Racy string lines accompany the gorgeous duel female harmonies.

The twins named the band Tall Poppies soon after emigrating from their hometown, Perth, the most isolated city in the world. Having grown up listening to alternative British acts The Smiths, Kate Bush, David Bowie and Pulp, the pair dreamed of moving to the musical centre of the world and began writing their own distinct indie-pop tunes. Their catchy melodies matched with luscious intertwining harmonies.

Songs are drafted over cups of tea and chocolate biscuits while the twins gossip about men, friends, the latest novel and the dramas of working life. Snippets of Sisterly chat can bloom into a whole song. Lyrically they tell stories of the everyday and the unusual, the melancholic and comical with a dark sense of humour.

The twins met Diarmuid in London and it was not long before his graceful string lines accompanied the entire set, Doug Fink (formerly of Noah and the Whale) joined in adding more flare and completing the sound with his lively beats.

The band are fiercely DIY, having independently recorded and released two albums, designing all their artwork, costumes and recording numerous humerous video clips. Their video 'Time Machine' was selected for the Australian Festival of the Sun Video clip finals. They have been broadcast Nationally and internationally. The band have worked with producer, Brian O'Shaugnessy (Primal Scream 'Screamadellica') and Paul Tipler (The Horrors, Elastica, Stereolab) for their latest material - to be released in 2016.

Live highlights include tours to New York, Berlin, Australia and around the UK. Playing shows at festivals Hay on Wye, Ashford Create, 2000 Trees, Clarence Park, Wanstead Festival and the West Australian Music Festival, as well as support slots for legendary names such as Boy George, and appearing at London Fashion Week.
