    London is the location for major sporting venues, old and new. It is also the place where many sports were codified, administered, reported on and promoted. Hackney and its surrounding area has a number of links with this sporting heritage.

    In this talk, Simon Inglis will tell us about the story of sport in London with particular reference to sites from our corner of the capital

    Simon Inglis has written a number of books on stadiums and sporting architecure, and is the editor of the "Played In Britain" series of books about sporting heritage in different areas of Britain. Last year his book "Played in London" was published.
