For his debut at Hampstead Jazz Club, expect an intimate, compelling set of blues guitar-flavoured original songs, with a few choice “oldies”, backed by a stripped down version of his band “Jamside Up,” including Kenrick Rowe on drums.”
A natural, compelling performer, "Timeless" Tim Hain has recently been dubbed “The Van Morrison of Bleggae” by legendary Rolling Stones’ producer Chris Kimsey.. “Bleggae” describes his joyous fusion of blues and reggae.
He has played and written with the best on both sides of the Atlantic, including John Lee Hooker’s daughter Zakiya. He once jammed with Jeff Beck at a gig which happened to be at Jeff’s local, passing his old Fender back and forth while the band played on. He later looked up from his guitar to see Jeff sitting 10 feet away, enjoying his performance and smiling broadly.
His reggae roots include playing for Jamaican luminaries Tyrone Taylor, Winston Reedy and Little Roy, and touring with the Black Theatre Co-op, which included Janet Kay and Carroll Thompson. They affectionately referred to Tim as “our token white” which might raise eyebrows in this PC era, but which he wore as a badge of honour.
He has played over 2000 shows since 2000, honing his skills and style. His band “Jamside Up” is a joy. He is also at home alone, performing “unplugged” with an old Spanish guitar.
The Rt Rev. Nick Baines, Bishop of Leeds, reckons Tim is a “damn good guitarist,” steeped in the styles of the Three Kings, two Alberts, Peter Green, a touch of Jimi, and Ry Cooder.
He is currently working on a new album of original songs with Mr Kimsey as production consultant - “Tales of Timeless Tim Volume One: Bone Age” . The title track has just been mixed by Chris, with more to follow.
Tim is a keen amateur motor racing photographer, and author of “Lap Of Honour - A Photographic Journey With Sir Stirling Moss”, nominated for “Telegraph Illustrated Sports Book Of The Year 2020”.
“An engaging performer, “Timeless” Tim Hain has just been dubbed “The Van Morrison of Bleggae” by legendary Rolling Stones’ producer Chris Kimsey.
