Swing Punks for Youth Music

Apr 12 2019 20:00 - 22:00

The Tabernacle, The Tabernacle, W11 2AY London

A unique and sensational evening of Big Band entertainment.

The Swing Punks are putting on a special concert at The Tabernacle, Notting Hill on Friday 12th April 2019 on behalf of the National Foundation for Youth Music.  All profits from the show will go to the charity, which invest in music projects for children and young people aged 0-25.

Projects funded by Youth Music help children develop an early love of music, providing diverse role models, introducing young people to a wide variety of potential career paths, and working with the music industry to make its practices more inclusive.

Chris Bemand, founder and conductor of the Swing Punks, the big band that plays irreverent swing versions of everyone’s favourite punk tunes, from the Sex Pistols to the Ramones, has planned this evening to coincide with the end of Youth Music's Give a Gig week of fund raising for the charity

He’s very pleased to be working with the Youth Music team.  He said “Everyone on stage is a professional musician and we know what music means to us. This is a great opportunity for us to give something back to the music community and to encourage young people to use music as an outlet for their creativity.”

Tickets are on sale now at £20.  All profits will go to the charity.

Swing Punks features a Big Band drawn from some of London’s finest jazz musicians. The band consists of four trombones, four trumpets, five saxophones, drums, bass, guitar, piano and three singers led by trombonist / singer James Lawrence.
