    Description

Dallas Campbell and Daryoush Haj-Najafi will explore the history of the spacesuit at Second Home. One of the most advanced fashion accessories ever created, the spacesuit serves as a miniature spaceship to keep astronauts alive in the cold, hostile vacuum of space. Since the 1950s, this space age icon has also influenced fashion designers here on Earth.

At this unique and intimate event, space expert Dallas Campbell will explore the history of the spacesuit beyond our atmosphere while fashion journalist Daryoush Haj-Najafi will examine its influence on designers from Pierre Cardin to Thom Browne back here on our home planet. There will also be an opportunity to view an actual spacesuit up close that has survived a trip to space.

Dallas Campbell is a well-known television presenter who has a passion for science and technology. He is best know for science magazine show 'Bang Goes The Theory' as well as landmark BBC series such as 'Supersized Earth', 'Egypt’s Lost Cities', 'The Treasure Hunters' and 'Stargazing Live'. Dallas recently spoke alongside astronaut Helen Sharman and participated at the Royal Institute’s 2014 Christmas Lecture.

Daryoush Haj-Najafi is a freelance writer, Senior Editor of Complex UK, a contributor to China’s Modern Weekly, a host on NTS Radio and SHOWstudio and an Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins. We hope to see you there.
