World-renowned vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Sumudu, who has performed with the likes of Van Morrison, Rod Stewart & Jamie Cullum, makes her debut at HJC with a special intimate program of jazz, pop and musical theatre.

SUMUDU is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from London. An exceptional and versatile talent in jazz, pop and soul, she has performed for Her Majesty The Queen and sung with musical luminaries Burt Bacharach, Hal David, Dionne Warwick, Peabo Bryson and Sir Van Morrison to name a few.

She has performed at London’s top music venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, as well as many high-profile events including BBC Proms in Hyde Park, Royal Ascot and Later with Jools Holland.

Her new album 'For All We Know,' sees her returning to jazz singing standards in tribute to some of her favourite songwriters (from Harold Arlen to Lennon & McCartney) who have inspired her along her career.

Her self-written debut album ‘Waiting For You’ was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Kipper (Sting/James Taylor), and BBC Radio compared her to legendary artists Eva Cassidy, Karen Carpenter and Alison Krauss.

Sumudu is also a highly sought after session singer and regularly records at Abbey Road Studios and Air Studios and appears on numerous film and TV soundtracks (Disney's Raya and the Last Dragon, Don't Look Up, Cruella).

Sumudu is frequently on tour as a backing singer, guitarist, keyboardist and percussionist for Sir Van Morrison and more recently for Jools Holland.

"She is quite simply an outstanding talent…a voice like honey” – BBC Radio 2
