Its show time!
This Trip The Light is part of our SummerTanz mini-Festival it is sandwitch-ed by two international intensives and therefore has an international flair. The programme features two artists based abroad: Edivaldo Ernesto and Emily Tanaka and two artists based in London: Rick Nodine and Janina Rajakangas. PROGRAMME
Janina Rajakangaspresents excerpts of Dinosaur
Dinosaur is a reflection on what love really is, how it succeeds and fails and how it is not what we often see it portrayed as. It uses movement to say things about love we cannot put into words so that you, our audience, can see them in the performers bodies and relate them to your experiences of love. The full version of Dinosaur will premiere at The Place on the 31st of November '15.
Emily Tanaka presents Cube
Cube won the best dancer prize in Korea, the first prize in Masdanza in 2011 and was part of the Rencontre chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis.
Emily has been exploring beauty that lies in the “void":
Before I leave, the dark comes over behind my back.
The remainder that was not selected of our ordinary days.
The rest of my being settles and occupies a cubic space.
It seems unexpectedly enormous.
Before I step forward, the cube comes over, like the dark, behind my back.
