WHAT IS IT?
The Suffolk Swords “Blade Runners” is a charity 5km fun run around Chantry Park in Ipswich on Sunday 7th May 2023 to raise money for the Be Lucky Anti Crime Foundation charity. The run will include members of Suffolk Swords in varying degrees of armour (up to full-plate), hundreds of local runners and an incredibly quick “dragon-runner” to chase you all the way to the finish! Only 200 spaces are available so grab your ticket now!
Our chosen charity is the Ipswich-based Be Lucky Anti Crime Foundation (Charity number: 1183871) which aims to install bleed control kits in Ipswich and the wider Suffolk region. These boxes contain instructions and emergency items, such as bandages and specialised dressings, for situations where serious bleeding has occurred, for example, car accidents, falls or physical assaults.

WHERE IS IT?
The race will be held at Chantry Park in Ipswich, setting off from close to the cricket pavilion. The park has a large amount of parking at both entrances however we ask attendees to consider walking, cycling or public transport as much as possible to reduce congestion. The park is familiar to many as the local Ipswich parkrun location, so if you are driving to the site why not consider lift-sharing with fellow runners?
WHEN IS IT?
The event is on Sunday 7th May 2023 with staggered starts based on handicap from 9am. We will be on-site to set up before 9am and all participants will need to complete the 5km course within 1hr 30mins.
WHAT DO I GET FOR TAKING PART?
Apart from the warm glow of helping a local charity, all participants and helpers will receive a beautifully-crafted wooden medal, specially designed to commemorate this event.
HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?
There are many ways you can get involved:
1) You can participate in the run by signing up here. There is a £10 participants’ fee which goes directly to the Be Lucky Anti Crime Foundation charity. You can run or walk the course and it is up to you if want to wear normal running attire or something more fancy! Members of the Suffolk Swords will be running in armour (you will hear them coming!) but we do not recommend this for participants!
2) If you do not wish to participate you can still donate directly via Just Giving. Even £5 helps us to get closer to our target.
3) Please share the event to friends and family to spread the word. Please include the Just Giving link!
4) Why not recommend the event to a local company for sponsorship and advertising?
5) Everyone is welcome to come along to the event and cheer the participants along. The armoured runners from Suffolk Swords will certainly need all the support they can get!
I’M EXCITED! I WANT TO SIGN UP!
Great! Sign up here and we look forward to seeing you on Sunday 7th May 2023!
