Description

Strong Island Recordings and Pie & Vinyl have teamed up to bring the incredible Rosie Alena to Portsmouth along with support from Number 9, Megan Linford and Tom Bryan for a wonderful evening of psychedelia and folk at The Wave Maiden.

Rosie Alena (Psychedelic-Folk)

Rising from the same pocket of promising BRIT School alumni that includes black midi and Olivia Dean, London-based songwriter Rosie Alena released her first Single ‘Mixed Messages’ via southern label  Strong Island Recordings.

Featuring black midi members Geordie Greep (guitar), Matt Kwasniewski-Kelvin(guitar) and Morgan Simpson (drums) as well as Finn Zeferino- Birchall on bass, ‘Mixed Messages’ is a stunning slice of songwriting that straddles the line betweenpsychedelia, folk and pop.

With support already from the likes of Line of Best Fit, So Young Magazine, Beats 1, KEXP as well as recently opening for Huw Stephens presents, Rosie Alena in a short time has already made strides. Be sure to come down and witness the celestial odyssey that is Rosie Alena and her wonderful band.

Number 9 (Psychedelic-Rock)
Psychedelic Portsmouth maestros Number 9 create kaleidoscopic 60’s sounding psychedelia in the vein of The Beatles, Jefferson Airplane  and The Byrds mixed with the likes of Brian Jonestown Massacre and Melbourne’s hippy-freak out 4-piece Babe Rainbow.

Megan Linford (Folk)

Megan Linford delves into the purest form of folk. Pastoral, retro sounding English 60’s folk with hints of Syd Barrett, Megan Linford is without a doubt one of the most exciting acts from Hampshire at the moment creating wonderful folk-y soundscapes.

Tom Bryan Bryan (Psychedelic-Folk)
Looping psychedelic meets almost trip hop, Tom Bryan is as if time and space crashed into itself with Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd meeting the Bristolian sounds of Massive Attack. The one band machine that is Tom Bryan is another of the south's most exciting artists creating trippy sounding psychedelic sounds. An absolute one man band machine.

Tickets are £5 in advance (inc booking fee - sorry!) or £6 on the door.
