Description
To mark International Women's Day 2017, which falls on the following Wednesday, Alison Lonsdale Taylor (voice, violin) and Svetlana Barsky (piano) present a celebration of music by women composers – including Cecile Chaminade, Barbara Strozzi, Clara Schumann and Amy Beach.
Alison Lonsdale Taylor
Alison won a music scholarship to Sherborne School for girls, and has subsequently studied at London University Trinity College of Music (voice under Gwendolin Hanson) and under Mark Hayden from the Royal College of Music. Alison has performed solo work in and around the London area in venues such at St Michael's Cornhill, St Paul's Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, including some concerts as a soloist with John Rutter, and in earlier times for members of the Royal Family. She is now thoroughly delighted to be working with Svetlana in their local area. Alison also tutors and coaches part time in voice, violin, viola and piano.
Svetlana Barsky
Svetlana began her studies at the Central School of Arts in Irkutsk, Russia, passing various piano exams and performing with her student orchestra. As well as achieving a degree in Pure Maths in Russia, she gained a PhD in Computer Science. Svetlana continued her music studies and is now studying under the concert pianist Sachika Taniyama. She has been actively involved in concert work and performance during recent years. Including her successful academic career, Svetlana has always shown great aptitude and enthusiasm as an accompanist and is now fulfilling that ambition in a series of concerts with Alison.
