For a Glasgow first we've invited Mancunian rub a dub specialists the Dub Smugglers to drive all the way to Scotland with their sound system for an authentic, all night long reggae soundclash dance.
Soundclash originated in the Jamaican dancehalls of the late 70s and early 80s, with different sound systems taking their own area in one dancehall and competing, throwing banter on the mic and dubplate specials on the turntable; all the spirit of entertainment. This dance will showcase this style of sound session, with the two sounds taking turns throughout the night as follows:
Hometown Promotion Sound System (Glasgow)
vs
Dub Smugglers Sound System (Manchester)
1x 1 Hour round each
2x 30 Minute rounds each
4x 15 minute rounds each
The location is just south of the river and will be announced on the day, complete with map and local public transport links.
