Description
Experience the richness of Slavic music with 'Slavic Soirées', a concert series established by the award-winning violin soloist and Guidhall School of Music graduate Leona Gogolicynová.
This iteration of the series will feature Leona Gogolicynová’s Chiarina Ensemble (violin, viola, cello) and a guest pianist Patrick Mattar, who will perform a captivating selection of Slavic masterpieces, including works by Antonín Dvořák, Hans Krása and Gideon Klein, with a sprinkle of Mozart for good luck.
This concert will be a prelude to the Czechoslovak Independence Day on October 28th, marking the anniversary of the creation of the First Independent Czechoslovak State in 1918. The theme of independence and freedom is particularly poignant in this concert, as we will be featuring two talented composers—Hans Krása and Gideon Klein—who tragically died in the Terezín camp during World War II. Their music represents a powerful testament to resilience in the face of unimaginable hardship.
