    Description

On the 10th May expect something a little different from SLAM. Rather than our traditional SLAM Fridays, get ready for a daytime guided tour where there is an array of exclusive events happening in association with SLAM and the ‘Urban Village Fete’ at Greenwich Peninsula. Set to celebrate the best in design, music, art, innovative events and modern craftsmanship during the one day event running 12pm – 7pm. The ‘Urban Village Fete’ will draw together local suppliers, designers and performers all under the eye of Hemingway Design. Expect Craft Beer, Vintage clothing, artist interventions, food stalls and more!

Curator Jemima Burrill of NOW Gallery will give an insight into their exhibition from the East London Comic Book Art Fair and talk trough their program.

Kaia Charles will also introduce the ‘Urban Village Fete’ and advise you on the exciting range of activities taking place across the site such as dance classes, the pooch parade, workshops for children and Best of British Design marketplace curated by Best of Britannia.

Lazarides are considered “The international market leader in what is dubbed urban art” with a prestigious gallery in Fitzrovia and editions gallery at SouthBank the studio provides a dedicated platform for their collection of international artists.. They have been kind enough to open up their studio doors for the day! We will be taking the tour to Lazarides Editions studio for an exclusive introduction from Gallery Manager Simon Butler, and an opportunity to explore their amazing studios and grounds. With an array of contemporary art alongside exclusive studio visits Greenwich’s artistic community is growing and our tour is the perfect, bite- sized experience. Finishing for a drink or two walking around the new public garden designed by Alys Fowler and Thomas Hoblyn whilst listening to the likes of Giles Peterson DJing on top of a London Routemaster!
