Shankly: Nature’s Fire explores the remarkable life and career of Bill Shankly, the legendary Liverpool Football Club manager who came to leave such a legacy in his adopted home city. The film is a nostalgic journey into the origins of the world’s favourite game, and how legends are born and transcend generations.
Perhaps no one before or since has personified the spirit of the working class culture that gave birth to the modern game. Shankly’s passion for football was boundless to the point of obsession.
To understand who Shankly is, where he came from and the loyalty and passion he inspired, is to understand the spirit of football itself.
Two years in the making, filming was finished on the project in May 2017 with an impressive array of contributors involved: players such as Ian St John, Denis Law, Roger Hunt, Kevin Keegan, Steven Gerrard and commentators including legendary sports writer Hugh McIlvanney and author Irvine Welsh, as well as family members and fans.
REFRESHMENTS
Pizza at the Pictures – order a pizza or lasagne with your ticket(s) by 1pm on the day of the screening and we will have it fresh and ready for you at 8pm. All pizzas are made with fresh dough, hand thrown and stone baked in a traditional Italian way.
