    Description

Classic Cinema Club-Ealing has commissioned Ealing-based composer Laura Rossi to write an original score to a newly restored version of the BFI silent 1915 film, Jane Shore. Considered the first British epic and one that rivalled the best productions coming out of Hollywood at the time, Jane Shore was filmed in part at Ealing Studios and produced by Will Barker, who founded the original studio and built the complex. It is an adaptation of the 1714 play The Tragedy of Jane Shore by Nicholas Rowe and is based on the life of Jane Shore, the mistress of Edward IV. A goldsmith's wife becomes the king's mistress to save her husband's life.Laura Rossi has previously scored feature films including London to Brighton, Song for Marion and The Eichmann Show and silent films including the BFI 'Silent Shakespeare' collection and The Imperial War Museum's The Battle of the Somme.

Classic Cinema Club-Ealing gratefully acknowledge support from PRS for Music Foundation's Women Make Music Programme and The Arts Council England.
