Description

This cinematic portrait of Brighton, in all its bohemian, and campaigning glory, darts between past present and is set to a sumptuous orchestral score. 'Father Neptune' is dunked in a raucous 1951 ritual, 1930s marchers celebrate the Soviet Union. Today’s residents parade at Pride and commemorate Gaza. The elegant ferris wheel marks the passage of time, and this day-in-a-life culminates in astounding puppetry and the winter festival, 'The Burning of the Clocks'. A Brighton Festival Commission.

Supported by Screen Archive South East, The University of Sussex and Sea Life Centre.

The film will be accompanied by a screening of Georges Méliès's Voyage to the Moon (1902), with an original composition by Ed Hughes.

  • Where do I find a link to an online event?

Check your order confirmation page or order confirmation email. Usually, the organiser of the event provides the details in the order confirmation email or they might send you a follow-up email with a link to their online event. You might also want to read the event description on Billetto where an event organiser should describe how to join the event online. For more information on this, read here.
