Round It Out: A One-Day Workshop on Throwing Bellied Forms
Date: Saturday 4th October 2025
Time: 10am–2.30pm (includes a half-hour lunch break)

Level: Improver – some experience of throwing recommended
Tutor: Chiara
Firing included: Bisque + glaze in studio white (up to 2 pieces)
Master the curve and create bold, round forms.
This one-day throwing workshop is all about building confidence with spherical shapes — from moon jars to softly rounded pots. You’ll learn how to belly out and collar in without collapse, creating forms that are both balanced and full of character.
Whether you're interested in traditional moon jar aesthetics or just want to improve your control over volume and shape, this is the perfect opportunity to stretch your skills (literally and figuratively).
What to Expect

Demonstration of throwing a moon jar or spherical form

Discussion of where pots often go wrong — including collapse, tearing, and overworking

Tips on wall thickness, timing, and how to support expansion and closure

Focused guidance on bellying out and collaring in with confidence

Plenty of time for students to practise making rounded forms

One-to-one coaching throughout
You’ll have the option to select up to 2 pots to be bisque fired and glazed in the studio’s classic white or transparent glaze. Finished pots can be collected later or posted.

We’ll take a 30-minute lunch break around midday.
Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended. Please note that tickets will only be refunded if cancellation notice is given at least 2 weeks before the course commences.
