We would like to invite you to our little Russian music concert for children, 4.30 pm on 3rd of March in the theatre in RACC.

It is intended as an introduction to the wonderful world of Russian folk instruments and music, where the artists will share their passion with the audience. The concert is interactive and children will have a chance to ask questions, participate in concert itself and even touch and play the instruments!

When someone mentions Russian music, first things that are most likely coming to one’s mind are classical pieces from Tchaikovsky, Rakhmaninov, Prokofiev, and others. Only a handful of people though are familiar with a musical tradition where these musical titans were finding inspiration and where they were themselves saying roots of their talent have come from.

Russian folk music, lively, bright, humorous, lyrical, sometimes sad, and incredibly vivid, can trace its origins to the old pagan traditions of Slavonic tribes. It has also absorbed musical spirit from many other nationalities that lived, traded and fought in the vast space that is known as Russia. Almost never written down it was passed from mouth to mouth, from ear to ear until it found its way to classical pieces and street songs alike. In the 19^th century Mikhail Glinka introduced folk music from Russia to the Western world.

Our concert will offer kids a chance to get familiar with this musical phenomena. They will listen to some of the classical pieces and we are sure will participate in quite a bit of dancing!

This is family friendly event. All ages are welcome (but please be aware that it might be too noisy for little babies)

Маленький концерт "Матрешки-балалайки" 3 марта в Ричмонде, в театре RACC - семейный концерт русской народной музыки для детей любого возраста. Дети услышат известные народные и современные популярные русские мелодии. Играем на разных (!!) балалайках, баяне, гитаре, трещотках и ложках.

В программе: небольшой рассказ про инструменты, все можно потрогать, свободное передвижение детей во время программы или даже танцы!! Народные или яркие костюмы приветствуются. Программа для детей любой национальности, будем рады вас видеть с английскими друзьями. Внимание: эта программа будет на английском и русском языках.
