Spitfire Factory Tour, Biggin Hill

Photographing aeroplanes is a popular subject, and often includes fighters from the Battle of Britain either in the air at shows or at a distance parked on the ground. The iconic Spitfire is now big business, many restored for private owners, displays, and flying experiences.

At Biggin Hill Airfield in Kent, there is a working hangar dedicated to returning these and other period aeroplanes back to the skies. Click below for details from their website.

We have arranged a visit for up to ten of us on Thursday, February 19th, 2026, starting at 11 am. This is a private tour when the factory will be working but on a day when the hangar is closed to the public. It will last about 1.5 hours and costs £53. There is a small premium included for our private access.

We will have a guide to show us around and allow very close access to numerous Spitfires and other wartime aircraft, engines, and other artefacts.

In addition, if the weather is favourable, they will almost certainly be pushing planes outside to run up engines and as well as two-seater passenger flights.

The light inside is bright LEDs, just as well, as the space is too limited for tripods.

The hangar is situated inside the airfield, about half a mile from the main road, following the map provided. There is ample free parking right outside.
