Come join us on a photography visit to Lullingstone Castle and World Garden, on 7th May, organized by RPS, South East Region!
Many of us are drawn to the beauty of plants and their flowers, and they do make excellent subjects for photography. What better then than to spend a whole day in an immaculately cared for collection of plants from all over the world, set in the grounds of an historic family home.
In a remote corner of Kent, (although close to the M25 and southeast London), Lullingstone Castle is one of England’s oldest family estates and has been in the same family since the Doomsday Book. Tom Hart-Dyke, the current owner and our host for the event, is a modern-day plant hunter who has amassed his collection from all over the world. The centrepiece is the World Garden, laid out like a map of our planet and populated by unusual and exotic plants harvested from his travels. And should the weather be unkind, many more are to be found in polytunnels offering protection from the elements although still allowing good natural lighting.
We meet at 10am, on a day when the gardens are closed to the public and thus have unrestricted access. There is a café for lunch 10 minutes’ walk away in the nearby Country Park, and the cost a modest £12.50 per head.
