Description
Meet Dan (The Cider Box) and Matt (The Charcuterie Board) - suppliers of fine traditional ciders and free-range UK charcuterie, respectively. This tasting session is an opportunity to sample a selection of ciders from some of the UK's best small batch producers, as well as Suffolk & Gloucestershire cured meats of the highest quality. Dan will also bring with him truckles of wonderful Somerset cheddar, to complement your cider. After the tasting session, there will be live music in the front of the pub from Hey Maggie - premium reggae, with a new school twist
The session will last around and hour and a half and will include:
- Samples of eight different ciders, from producers including Pilton, Hecks, Venton's, Tricky Cider and Nempnett's
- Royal Albert chutney
- A selection of British charcuterie
- Discussion with Dan and Matt
- And a little bit of cheese (Somerset cheddar)
The Cider Box - "leaders of the real cider movement" - is based in the heart of cidermaking country, a stone's throw from the mystical Glastonbury Tor. From the horse's mouth - "Working closely with traditional & craft cidermakers, we're on a mission to eradicate poorly described drinks, masquarading as cider, and give the people what they really want - full juice, no nonsense cider, loaded with magic, history and passion". Dan is a good friend of the Royal Albert and has even taken us to Somerset to see it all happen and to blend our own cider (you might even get to try some - how do you like them apples?)
The Charcuterie Board - "the London-based representative of two of the UK's best
charcuteries - Moons Green and Native Breeds" - reside within spitting distance of The Royal Albert and as well as being a trusted supplier are regular drinkers of our beer. With their own background in butchery and charcuterie production (as well as restaurant management), they offer a range of artisan fermented, air-dried, and cooked charcuterie with an emphasis on provenance, consistency, and quality before quantity. Matt also provides our delicious beer sticks (ask at the bar) and has helped us produce our own sausages for the festival BBQ.
