Seminar details:
The rise of smartphones, sensors and connected objects offers a wealth of transport data, which among others allow for new and innovative data-driven solutions for road safety, especially when exploiting properly advances in computing power, data science and artificial intelligence. This presentation attempts to shed light on key innovations in data collection, sharing and analysis which can support emerging solutions to:
· better understand crash outcomes and contributory factors
· address road user behaviour and errors
· address traffic and infrastructure issues in a proactive manner and
· benefit from driver assistance systems and cooperative connected solutions.
Special emphasis is given to the role of big data management and analysis, telematics solutions, and automated and cooperative transport systems. Finally, a discussion is also suggested on key open challenges, like technology weaknesses, privacy protection, data sharing business models and partnerships.
All seminars are completely free to Loughborough University researchers and will take place from 12:30 to 13:30 with 30 minutes for presentation(s) and a 30 minutes networking lunch.
