Ride to see the Sky Pool at Embassy Gardens
The 12 mile route for this ride can be downloaded from here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/36916815
When we read a recent Southwark Healthy Ride report about a completely OTT marketing video for a Sky Pool, we thought it might be an April fools' joke. But when we went to see for ourselves what was going on, we found that the pool actually exists.
So we will be doing a ride to take a look at it. We won't be able to go in it, but we can cycle under it!
We will be using this ride as a dry run for the 2021 Christmas Day Ride. As our rides attract riders not just from Southwark but from as far afield as the M1, will be organising a feeder ride from Wildwood Road, corner with Ingram Avenue (///dome.renew.stack), leaving at 9.00am and reaching Beigel Bake, 159 Brick Lane, London E1 6SB at 10am. Additional riders can join the ride at Beigel Bake.
We will then cycle down to the Southwark Needle, Archbishop's Park, Paradise Park, Lambeth Walk, Vauxhall and Embassy Gardens.
STOP PRESS: On Monday the Northern line extension (NLE) between Kennington and Battersea opened to the public and there is now a new Battersea Power Station Station. We will be taking a look at it.
We will then continue on through the Battersea Power Station Development to Battersea Park, where we stop at the Pear Tree Cafe for a refreshment break.
We then return along the cycleway on the north bank of the Thames to Blackfriars Station, where the ride finishes.
