    Description

What do two trolls make? A cycling club! Remember: He who pays the piper calls the tune.

We have a Ride to the Heathen Brewery, a Safety First Cycling Group "pub crawl on pedals" and someone asserting, apparently with no support, that the East End Cycling Club membership fee is £10/year and that it intends to apply to become a British Cycling affiliated club.

What should we do with persistent rule-breakers?

In Victorian times, they were sent to Millbank Prison. Many would be held there before being transported to Australia, but, for those thought most likely to reform, sentences of five to ten years were offered.

In 2017, there was a Southwark Healthy Ride to Millbank Prison, but what they didn't tell us was that the prison cells are still there and people can be taken down to them!

The 10 mile route for the ride can be downloaded from here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes...

We will meet at the Southwark Needle at 9.30am and start by cycling to Vauxhall Park, where we take a look at the model village, and Larkhill Park. We then will go to the new Battersea Power Station Station:

We will then have another change to see the Sky Pool:

We then cross Vauxhall Bridge and and cycle around the perimeter of what used to be Millbank Prison. A concrete ditch can still be seen, which used to surround one of the pentagonal structures that formed the prison:

We can also take look at couple of the long sections of the original octagonal boundary wall that now forms the northern boundary of Tate Britain:

The ride will finish at the Morpeth Arms, where we can ask if they will take us down to see the prison cells which are still there in the basement of the pub.
