Event cancelled

Retribution Alive: Phlefonyaar / Grim Ravine / Zonate Tooth / Borehead

From GBP 1.00

Description

In December we take a doomed 4-band line-up to Hackney, to the occult den that is Helgi's!

PLEASE NOTE: This has been moved from Saturday 23rd May to Friday 4th December due to the CORVID-19 outbreak. All ticket sales are valid for the new date.

Industrial-tinged doomsters PHLEFONYAAR headline, with GRIM RAVINE dragging their sludgey sounds to London from the southcoast for the first time. Support comes from witchey 3-piece ZONATE TOOTH and instrumental doom-bringers BOREHEAD!

So far the diverse metalisation of Retribution Alive has breached the walls of such venues as the Intrepid Fox, The Dome, The Dev, The Lounge, Purple Turtle, Black Heart, Electrowerktz, Unicorn, Big Red, Nambucca, Scala, Boston Music Room, Underdog Gallery, 12 Bar, New Cross Inn, Fiddlers Elbow, Amersham Arms, The MacBeth Of Hoxton, Wig & Gown, Amwell Arms, Upstairs @ The Garage, Kings Arms and the Plough & Harrow!

PHLEFONYAAR

Formed in 1996. Phlefonyaar *pronounced "flef-on-yar"* is named after one of the tribes that inhabit the banks of the black river in hell, the phlegathon.

Artists we like include Tom Waits, Ramesses, Black anvil, Author and punisher, Skrew, Clutch, Nick Cave, Ministry, Jucifer, melvins, Fudge tunnel, Bongzilla, The black angels, Nailbomb, sleep, godflesh, pitchshifter, Birds of prey, Bong ra, Misery loves co, Pig destroyer.

Meth cook blues that's born to loose. Pro cat!

GRIM RAVINE

Cited as one of the finest purveyors of extreme blackened doom to emerge from the UK and having firmly left their mark with 2015's self-titled and 2017's The Light is from Below, south coast quintet Grim Ravine, proudly reveal their latest opus 'It's A Long Way Down, To Where You Are'. The four track album spans a multitude of soundscapes from doom to black metal, melodic to discord, it's ethereal and haunting. It's A Long Way Down, To Where You Are is an album that could be summarised as one of positive misery, a celebration of hopelessness and the futility of our joyous descent into oblivion.

The album is out 27th March 2020 via Hostile Media and will be available on CD and vinyl formats as well as on all major streaming and digital platforms. Pre-Order here: www.hostilemedia.net/shop

BOREHEAD

Borehead are an instrumental doom metal band based in London. Blending spacey, psychedelic blues with slow heavy riffs. With a new EP on the horizon, you should expect down tuned guitars, lots of volume, and fuzz on top of fuzz!
