Description

The Retribution Alive road trip continues in August as we make our way back to the Underdog Gallery for a special post-Bloodstock breakdown!

We have the sludge/doom of GURT (Bloodstock 2017), Hertfordshire's progressive sludgers EVEREST QUEEN (Bloodstock 2017), the debut performance from RAG featuring 2 members of Sons Of Merrick (SOM have Dan Edwards at Bloodstock 2017 with Blind River) and the London debut from thrashers LET THE MADNESS BEGIN featuring ex-Kremated (Bloodstock 2013) man Phil Roberts + one more to be confirmed.

It doesn't stop there! Joining resident DJs 69 (Bloodstock In New Blood We Trust / Club Serpent) and Griffin (Bloodstock Signing Tent / Club Serpent) we have Bloodstock VIP overlord himself DJ Griz! Oh, and Sammy who runs the bloody venue is the drummer of Steak.... who are playing Bloodstock VIP this year....

Those non-Retribution members who come to the event with your 2017 Bloodstock arm band will get a pound off entry on the door.

The Retribution club night keeps the neighbours awake until 1am!

So far the diverse metalisation of Retribution Alive has breached the walls of such venues as the Intrepid Fox, Purple Turtle, 12 Bar, Black Heart, The Lounge, Scala, Unicorn, Nambucca, The Dev, Underdog Gallery, Wig & Gown, New Cross Inn, Fiddlers Elbow, Amwell Arms, Upstairs @ The Garage, Kings Arms and the Plough & Harrow! Get along to August's edition at the Underdog Gallery!

Bands playing 7.00pm-11.00pm:

GURT

GURT take the blues and groove of 70s rock and drag it backwards through the swamps of Louisiana. The drums are thunderous, the vocals demonic and the guitars down-tuned, down-tempo and down-right sexy. This is not doom, this is not sludge, THIS IS GURT.

After forming in January 2010 GURT have released a string of EPs and splits with such bands as Dopefight and LIMB (Witch Hunter Records) and Trippy Wicked.

The band unleashed their debut LP 'HORRENDOSAURUS' through independent label 'When Planets Collide: Presents' on June 9th 2014. The album highlights the band's ferocity and quirkiness in equal measure and is already receiving high praise from critics:

"HORRENDOSAURUS is a pummelling beast of an album. Brilliant and Highly Recommended" - The Sludgelord.

"You'll be hard pushed to find a record that is this punishing but as simultaneously as much fun as this at the moment. Get!" - Tight To The Nail

"Pure fucking insanity" - The Bent Unit

The past few years have seen GURT tour relentlessly through the UK and Europe supporting Weedeater, Red Fang, Black Tusk, Valient Thorr, Cough, Naam among many others as well as performing to packed out crowds at Bloodstock (UK) Desertfest (UK).

EVEREST QUEEN

3 piece metal act from the ominous depths of Hertfordshire. Everest Queen's aim is simple: to take heavy and sludgy riffs through progressive landscapes.

PURPLE KONG

"...a thundering storm soundbyte that then segues into an even more thunderous heavy doom/sludge groove populated by deeply, and we are talking extremely deeply, distorted bass and titanic drumming over which howling guitar and powerful, cleanly delivered vocals are laid..."

"the band hit a groove more akin to the proto-metal of the early to mid 70's ,albeit a lot harder and heavier, built around the recurring vocal mantra of the songs title. As the song approaches its nadir the song moves into jam territory with scorching wah drenched guitar quacking and squawking over a wall of tumultuous rhythm" - http://stonerking1.blogspot.co.uk

LET THE MADNESS BEGIN

Metals addiction to snorting Goth People and Goth music, mixed in with influences of Punk, and AOR all the way across the peroidic table, just add metal!!
