Remakesploitation presents: Turkish Star Wars (1982)
Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam literally translates as The Man Who Saved the World. Its notorious use of footage from Star Wars (1977) and other Hollywood sci-fi epics, as well as news clips from the US and Soviet space programmes, gained it the sobriquet Turkish Star Wars. Directed by Çetin İnanç, and starring Cüneyt Arkın (who also wrote the screenplay) and Aytekin Akkaya as two adventurers whose spaceships crash on a desert planet. Panned on its release, it subsequently achieved a cult status, as a "so-bad-it's-good" classic.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A. Details to be announced.
Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start.
Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
