Imran Yusuf and some of the best stand up comics in the UK have joined forces to raise funds for a great cause: all proceeds from this show will go to the London to Calais Convoy action group, who send regular convoys of volunteers supplying food, clothes and basic supplies to refugees in Calais:
There are an estimated 4000 people living in 'The Jungle' refugee camp without adequate food, water, sanitation and shelter. We met pregnant women from Syria, young boys from Afghanistan and men from Sudan, Darfur, Eritrea, Pakistan and elsewhere based in the camp. Due to lack of medical facilities and inadequate sanitation, illness is spreading through the camp. People will struggle to make it through the coming winter months.
- Both French and British governments are failing to provide support to the people in need.
- Asylum is a human right. Britain needs to take its fair share of refugees, especially considering its military interventions in the regions many of these people are fleeing.
- We want to demonstrate solidarity with migrants and oppose the hate campaign against them in sections of the media and amongst many politicians.
- We believe in the free movement of people and aspire to a world with no borders.
