Description

What makes a bookshop queer? Do LGBT+ people need bookshops of their own? Can queer bookshops give us anything that other bookshops can’t?

SPOut, the Scottish Parliament's LGBT+ staff network, and Patrick Harvie MSP invite you to a discussion about the past and present importance of queer bookshops in Scotland.

The event will be chaired by the playwright James Ley (Love Song To Lavender Menace), who will be joined by Sigrid Nielsen, Bob Orr and Raymond Rose, who ran the Lavender Menace and West and Wilde bookshops in Edinburgh in the 1980s and 90s, and Fionn and Charlotte Duffy-Scott, who opened Category is Books in Glasgow in 2018.

Tickets are free but limited to one per booking.

Venue

The Scottish Parliament The Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh EH99 1SP, EH99 1SP Edinburgh
