    Description

Learn the techniques of single colour and multi colour lino printing with artist and printmaker, Jamie Temple.

Starting with one block of lino you will focus on making a single colour lino print, practicing with different cutting tools and ways of printing, before introducing ways of adding extra layers of colour that fit your design. You will gain an insight into the linocut printmaking process; from sketching out an idea and transferring your design onto the block of lino, to working with a variety of carving tools, inks and methods of printing on paper. Jamie will give an in depth introduction to the process, showing a selection of his lino prints on paper, and will be on hand throughout to offer individual help and guidance. All tools and materials will be provided, so bring yourself and any sketches or ideas for prints.

Jamie Temple is a scottish artist and printmaker based in London. His practice is rooted in printmaking and woodworking from which he creates architectural and landscape works on paper, sculptures and site specific installations. Jamie’s work often draws from a fascination with the built and natural environments we inhabit and transform. In current ongoing projects he playfully explores relationships between the ways in which animals and humans live, work and survive; with a particular focus on social housing, ethical food production and the function of architectural and societal structures.

The workshop is open to a maximum of 10 participants (age 14+) on a first come, first served basis. Attendance at the workshop costs £40 (£30 students) with all proceeds supporting the SCHOOL SCHOOL after school club for the local state school students.
