This course is for those who have attended the traditional lampshade making course and wish to extend their knowledge further. Over two days, students will learn how to make a swathed pleated lampshade on a bowed empire frame and a gathered lampshade on a straight empire frame, leaving with the skills to produce high end lampshades fit for palaces, mansions and even our own humble homes.
Day 1: A swath pleated shade will be made on the first day, with guidance and tips given on how to create knife and spaced pleats with accuracy. We will discuss the best fabrics to use, how to calculate fabric, suitable frame types and look at ways to modernise a style that is often seen as outdated.
Day 2: Four different ways to gather fabric will be demonstrated with students choosing which they prefer to make a gathered lampshade. As with the swathed pleated lampshade, suitable fabrics and how to calculate fabric amounts will be discussed, as well as variations on fullness for different styles, suitable frames and "top and tail 'V' gathered shades.
This course is only suitable for those who know how to make a traditional tailored balloon lined lampshade. Tickets will not be refunded if you have booked in error. If you have not done this course, you can book here.
Tickets are non refundable. Tickets are only transferable if we are able to sell the space. Cocoon Home reserves the right to cancel the course at any time. In the unlikely event this should happen, tickets holders will received a full refund.
