Edinburgh Community Yoga are delighted to be running an afternoon of workshops at Perth Yoga Studio this September.
Yoga teachers, and non yoga teachers are welcome to attend one or both workshops on Saturday 1st September from 13:00-17:15
Cost is £25.00 per workshop or £40.00 to attend both plus Billetto booking fee. We will offer 2 discounted places for anyone for whom finance is a genuine barrier. Please contact email@example.com if you feel a discounted space would allow you to attend.
13:00-15:00 Neuroscience, the Stress response and Yoga
We live in a time where stress, chronic stress, busyness and burnout are often discussed and commmonly accepted as part of everyday life. This workshop aims to help you understand why our bodies and minds respond in the way they do to stress, understand the impact of this and learn how yoga and other mind/body practices can be a useful practice in mediating this. The workshop will:
1. Explore what stress, and chronic stress is 2. Cover the brain/nervous system physiology, the neuroscience behind the stress response and how and why it impacts on us 3. Discover the potential for the practice of yoga to change our nervous system and offer practical strategies for doing this.
Introduction to Yoga Outreach
Edinburgh Community Yoga is a not for profit social enterprise and exists to offer the practice of yoga to people who cannot or do not access regular yoga classes. We teach military veterans, women affected by trauma, people in addiciton recovery and in prisons. across Edinburgh. We also run NHS staff wellbeing programmes and a social prescribing project.
This workshop is a brief introduction to the practicalities of teaching in outreach settings and is open to yoga teachers, yoga teacher trainees and anyone else with an interest in this work. it is a introduction to the content of our 2 day training which runs in Glasgow and Edinburgh. The workshop will cover:
1. Why yoga can be a beneficial practice for our service users 2. Practicalities, Challenges and Ethics of the Work 3. How to get going
