Description
Oana originally comes from Romania, spent the past 11 years in Leeds and fell in love with Malaysia last summer.
Inspired by her trip to the beautiful state of Penang in northwest Malaysia and its food, cultural heritage and street art, Penang Gang brings together authentic Malaysian food and an exhibition of street photography and local art to Headingley, Leeds.
This June 22nd, join Oana for her favourite Malaysian dishes in a pop-up cafe event where all profits will go to a Romanian charity for cancer patients in the memory of her father. For more details on the chosen charity, please see:

All food is lovingly cooked by Maryam, the lady behind the Nasi Lemak Leeds project, who originally comes from Malaysia and whose cooking is just divine.
Ticket includes a Malaysian style drink and the following 3-course menu:
- Rojak Salad - Traditional Malaysian fruit and vegetable salad. Served with tofu puffs and topped with a sweet and tangy shrimp, tamarind and peanut sauce. Vegan version available upon request.
- Nasi Lemak - Malaysia's and Oana's favourite dish. Rice cooked in coconut milk, served with fried chicken, sambal chilli sauce, boiled egg, cucumber, anchovies and peanuts, all laid on a banana leaf. Halal chicken. Vegetarian and vegan versions available upon request.
- Sago Gula Melaka - Sago pearl pudding with coconut milk and Malaysia's special 'Gula Melaka' palm sugar. This dessert is vegan.
One drink of your choice between:
- Teh Tarik - Malaysian 'pulled' black tea with condensed milk
- Kopi - Malaysian style coffee
We won't be serving any alcohol, but you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
