We are doing this to raise awareness for the condition which has affected us directly.... My Dad had sepsis in January and we nearly lost him as a result of it, of it wasn't for the fast response from the NHS he wouldn't have been here today, From the Sepsis he has also been left with a condition called Auto Immune Neutropenia which now means he has a weakened Immune system and at risk from sepsis all the time.
This can happen to any one at anytime so we feel awareness needs to be raised.
There are around 123,000 cases of sepsis a year in England. Around 37,000 people die every year as a result of the condition.
Anyone can develop sepsis after an injury or minor infection, although some people are more vulnerable.
People most at risk of sepsis include those:
with a medical condition or receiving medical treatment that weakens their immune system
who are already in hospital with a serious illness
who are very young or very old
who any one who have just had surgery or who have wounds or injuries as a result of an minor illness or accident
