Jeremy Lent is visiting the UK in July as part of the launch of his new book, The Patterning Instinct—the story of how different cultures have made sense of the universe and how their underlying values have changed the course of history. For ten years, Lent has been investigating the various constructions of meaning formed by cultures around the world and throughout history. Besides The Patterning Instinct, Jeremy has developed a new integrative framework of meaning called Liology.
Liology
Liology (pronounced “lee-ology”) offers a different way of relating to ourselves and the universe: a way that is integrated, embodied and connected. A fusion of East Asian wisdom traditions and modern systems thinking, it offers a framework for a worldview that could enable humans to flourish on earth sustainably, with the meaning of our lives arising intrinsically from our embedded existence in the natural world. Liology embraces the deep connection with meaning arising from a recognition of our ultimate connectivity with everything in the universe.
The Event
This introductory workshop begins by asking: Where do we find meaning in our lives? We'll explore how Liology offers a framework—based on traditional Chinese wisdom and modern systems thinking—to integrate all the different parts of our lives into meaningful connection. The two-hour session incorporates group discussion, videos, guided meditation, qigong, and dance. It is fun, educative, and transformative—and offers a coherent framework for each participant to explore their own approach to meaning.
