Description

PARTNERING WORKSHOP with Rudi Cole and Julia Robert-Pares

MON 5th & TUE 6th October 2015 | 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Fresh from performing their work-in-progess of their current creation: ZERO link at Trip The Light: Double Trouble, Rudi and Julia will share a partnering workshop focussing on inner plasticity & double work tools.

Their workshop will be divided in two sections: morning technique and afternoon partnering laboratory

Morning Technique

Focusing on: totality, rhythm, energy, emotion, implosion, speed, efficiency in physics and metaphysics. The class will utilise simple loops, shaking and bouncing techniques, allowing time to develop anatomical awareness and movement efficiency to play with energy within altered perception while keeping a centred inner state.
The aims are to assist dancers in moving with totality and precision in rich and complex ways stretching their inner plasticity.

Partnering Laboratory

We will play with different ways to physically and consciously relate to others, especially in partner-work. How to adapt to a partner making the body and mind available and creative. Listening and proposing, using the focus as a way to communicate with openness and intention. We will propose both tools to research and choreographic phrases.

Rudi Cole and Julia Robert have worked with Akram Khan and Jasmin Vardimon, and together with Neon Dance, Jose Agudo, UmmaUmma Dance, among others.
They are currently creating their own work, which includes award winning duet ‘The Masks Behind Doors’ (nominated for two prices at the Certamen Coreographico De Madrid).

Their movement research takes on aspects of the individual development, attuning the mind and body, whilst forming a collective physical language. Through proposing and listening they work on attuning the spacing in-between their physical interaction. As teachers, they have taught internationally including Cobosmika SEED postgraduate, Budapest International Dance Week, Institute of the Arts of Barcelona, The Place, NSCD, NYDC.
