Part P of the building regulations
The Part P of the building regulations course and examination has been developed to enable candidates to show knowledge and understanding In their obligations electrically within a dwelling.
There are no formal requirements to take this qualification however it is expected that candidates can demonstrate an interest in domestic electrical works. The qualification is considered suitable for practicing electricians, associated trade professionals e.g. plumbers, builders, carpenters, kitchen fitters, handy persons, home DIYs, landlords and anyone looking to enhance their knowledge and understanding of their obligations electrically within a dwelling.

On successfully passing the 2393 examination you receive:
- results given straight after the examination
- same day emailed City & Guilds confirmation of your results
- electronic City & Guilds certification – normally within 4 days
- hard copy City & Guilds certification – normally 3 weeks from examination date
Successful candidates will achieve the City & Guilds 2393-10 qualification. The 2393 Part P qualification is the most recognised to be able to confidently call yourself Part P qualified.
Recognised by industry but in our experience more importantly recognised by the public, letting agents and land lords – Being Part P qualified is seen as the industry standard by the public, although this qualification is often overlooked by practising electricians.
The examination an open book multiple choice exam covering the content of the Electricians Guide to the Building Regulations. Candidates will be required to purchase their own copy of the book.
