Paint Like an Artist: The Impressionist
Fancy converting your image into an Impressionist painting - according to the Tate (kids page) Impressionism is bright colours, bold brushstrokes and a rebellious spirit! And Sotheby’s describe Impressionism as a style of painting with visible brushstrokes that offer the bare impression of form, unblended colour and an emphasis on the accurate depiction of natural light. And in this workshop you will learn how Photoshop can meet those two definitions
By using filters, blend modes and brushes to create the effect of thick paint,
Use art history brushes to build up the effect of multiple layers of paint applied with a brush or palette knife, to create deep textures
Really understand how filters work in Photoshop, blend the filters together to create your desired effect and don’t let Photoshop’s vast array of filters overwhelm you – they are just emulating how the artist works
Work with a variety of Photoshop brushes that create the effect of quick, loose visible brush strokes, which result in bright paintings
Modify the behaviour of the brush, just as you would as a painter
Photoshop is not just for photographers, but for those who wish to create a digital image in their own style or in the style of famous painters. In this workshop I will show you how to use brushes, filters and blend modes in a variety of combinations
We continue to help you in your learning – as an attendee of this workshop you are invited to an open workshop along with delegates from our other creative workshops – come and chat informally, ask question, get some more help, show your work, just drop in to listen or learn.

The event may be recorded and published. By joining the event you are deemed to consent to our making a recording of the event available online afterwards.
Cancellation Policy
It is inevitable, that occasionally an event will be postponed or cancelled for this or another reason beyond the RPS’s control. If an event is postponed we will transfer your booking to the rearranged event, with the option of a refund if the rescheduled date is not suitable for you. Occasionally an event may also be cancelled owing to a lack of bookings.
If an event is cancelled we will give you as much notice as we are able and any payment by you to the RPS in respect of the event is offered as a full refund. In the case of events cancelled because of a lack of interest, we will aim to give you as much notice as possible.
