Description
Every couple of months, P/O/P/A/G/A/N/D/A controversially takes one issue that is floating through popular culture, people’s minds and current conversations without perhaps being fully considered, examined, punctured, ‘popped’.
After sell out events throughout 2015 and 2016 the next P/O/P/A/G/A/N/D/A, at The Book Club 'pops' contemporary notions around our relationship to the truth.
With recent events in the EU Referendum and the US Election both emphasising and ultimately valuing emotion over expertise, sensational shifts over status-quo's and megaphones over nuance, people are beginning to ask are we starting to live in a 'post-facts' society where the valuing of hard won insight and associated notions of truth are no longer as important as previously held and thought and if this is the case, what does this mean for our politics, education, media and culture?
This P/O/P/A/G/A/N/D/A will be hosted by Dan Simmons, founder of Propelia the UK's first Thought Leadership Accelerator. The two advocates will be Jay Dias, a rising 'newbie' of the Lib Dems and pioneer of a new form of Vista thinking, that breaks the binaries that seem to restrict perspective and nuance in policy making and Matt Hussey writer, editor and photographer, who has twice been nominated as new journalist of the year and co founder of Provenance - a new e-commerce platform specialising in telling true stories about where products come from and how they are made.
