This poetry group will explore South American and South Asian poetry with initially a focus on Indian poetry, both that from India, and from Native American Indians and will be open to how it develops from the attendees interest. Guest speakers will be an integral part of the group whenever possible too.
The aims of this group are to have an interest in poetry in these categories and to be open to writing in the class with particular exercises and to be open to share your work. This means that you will need to bring a poem with you which is a finished or work in progress poem in order to receive feedback from the group. Giving feedback to each poet is as important as bringing a poem and developing constructive criticism will be another aspect of the groups aim.
No previous experience in writing poetry is necessary as this is open to both beginners and experienced writers, though a serious interest in commitment and attendance is preferred. It is open to all ages and genders. Please check the website regularly for any changes to session dates or times.
