This is a one day course teaching the Wet Plate Collodion process known as Tintype. Tintype was a process invented shortly after the advent of photography in the 1860's.
The process involves coating a metal plate with collodion and silver nitrate, then exposing the plate in a large format camera, then developing and fixing the plate. The resulting image is a one-off positive image rendered in silver on a sheet of blackened aluminium.
Learn the process; from safety to plate making, lighting and taking the picture, then developing and fixing the image. At the end of the day you will walk away with your own tintypes and a knowledge of process used over 150 years ago.
