Description
Folklore Days: Formation is an all day festival that aims to use a wide range of the arts forms and artists who embrace their diversity, to encourage social and political change.
This day is about; race, gender, sexuality, economic background, privilege and diversification, hashtag politics and the rise of the Donald Trump, because nothing is created in a vacuum and we believe all art is political.
In layman’s terms we are just a bit fed up with:- Grime artists being ignored at the Brits.
- Justin Bieber making ‘tropical influence house’.
- Non Desi girls wearing bindis at festivals or to the pub.
- Sam Smith winning all the MOBOs.
- The Oscars staying so white.
- And ELLE thinking Kylie Jenner invented cornrows.
We want to get together with like-minded artists and creatives, organise & celebrate our VERY POPULAR cultures and figure how the hell we move forward.
It’s time to get in Formation.
