We are delighted to entertain you with a varied programme consisting of a selection of arias, a new commission and two Romantic heavyweights in aid of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
The orchestra, formed in October 2017, has an age range of 12-23 and is made up of young musicians at secondary schools and Universities/Conservatoires across the United Kingdom, who all value the importance of music and enjoy performing.
The concert consists of a variety of music including some Liszt, Dvorak, Rachmaninoff, Bernstein, Haydn and Mendelssohn. It will also feature the world premiere of ‘Fast, Slower, Faster’ by Andrew Toovey, a composition tutor at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
The programme for the concert is as followed:
1st Half
- G. Soame – Fanfare for Brass and Organ (Organ Soloist: Patryk Korczak)
- Liszt – Liebestraum No.3 (Piano Solo: Hal Joseph)
- Haydn – In Native Worth from the Creation (Tenor: Arthur Campbell)
- Mendelssohn – Lord God of Abraham from Elijah (Baritone: Charles Desa)
- Bernstein – One Hand, One Heart from West Side Story (Duet: Marianna Hurst & Arthur Campbell)
- Rachmaninoff – Piano Concerto No.2, Movement 1 (Soloist: Owen Saldanha)
2nd Half
- Toovey – Fast, Slower, Faster (World Premiere)
- Dvorak – Symphony No.9 “From The New World”
